5 Guilt-Free Snacks to Munch on in 2020

The new year is here. Or shall we say, the new decade.
And, as always, when January rolls around, we all get our ducks in a row and our motivation in check to hit those New Year Resolutions!
If one of your resolutions is to drop a few pounds this year or even just make a few healthier choices, then this is the list for you! When the hunger monster comes out to play in the late morning or afternoon, munch on these guilt-free snacks to ward it off for good.

1. Hummus

Whether you prefer this chickpea-creamy-deliciousness with crunchy carrots, celery, or crispy crackers, hummus is filled with fiber goodness, healthy fats, and powerful plant protein that’ll fill you up and keep you satisfied. Check out our Vegan Avocado Hummus recipe.

While eating it with vegetables with further reduce calorie intake, our cauliflower and avocado crisps are a good alternative to regular crackers. Non-GMO, gluten-free, plant-based, low-calorie, and totally delicious, Hippie Snacks crisps and hummus are a perfect pairing!

2. Nuts + Seeds

Ever snacked on roasted and salted pumpkin seeds before? Or even some raw almonds? Absolutely delicious.

Packed with a hefty dose of protein, vitamins and minerals, and beneficial fats, nuts and seeds are the ultimate snack when you want something nutrient dense and satisfying. Although, make sure to watch your serving size! You might end up mindlessly eating too much.

(Psst, even better, you can buy nuts and seeds in bulk from our other great brand, Left Coast Organics!)

3. DIY Popcorn

Forego any of those butter and fat-filled popcorn bags from the store and instead opt for making your own at home! When you make popcorn yourself and skip the bags, you also skip out on any unhealthy toppings — making it the perfect low-calorie guilt-free snacks.

Pair your homemade popcorn with a sprinkle of salt, some nutritional yeast (which is a savory vegan, cheesy-type flakes topping), a drizzle of olive oil, or simply eat it plain.

Hippie Tip: When stopping at the store to pick up your popcorn kernels, try to buy them in bulk to further reduce your plastic consumption!

4. Homemade Smoothies

Smoothies are quick to make and a great way to get in both nutrient-dense fruits and veggies.

But… with that said, smoothies you buy in stores or cafes aren’t equal to the smoothies you make at home. Store-bought smoothies are typically filled with unnecessary sugar, fillers, and calories.

Instead, opt for making your own smoothies at home, where you can measure out and control what goes into your blender. Frozen fruit, like berries and bananas, are perfect for sweetness, while vegetables, like spinach and even carrots, add in a nice boost of vitamins and minerals.

Although, the best part about smoothies is you can add in virtually anything you want. Peanut butter, cocoa powder, flax, chia seeds… the possibilities are endless!

5. Hippie Snacks Granola

Love a good crunchy texture that’ll satisfy your tummy rumbles? Munch on our grain-free, non-GMO, super-delicious granola!
